A Very Important Note on PRIVACY and Twitter: At drop.io we believe in collecting and saving as little meta-data and user information as is possible both as a matter of privacy and simplicity. We don't have accounts, we don't ask for your name, etc. We all love twitter and are excited about the function we have built with their service, but their system forces us to store your twitter username and password (securely on our side) and transmit it to twitter in a non-secure way.

First, as a user please consider this before using the twitter/drop.io integration. Second, as a service we are uncomfortable with this situation, but there is no other way for us (or any other service that allows you to post tweets) to offer the functionality. Please read our open letter to twitter and consider supporting our official petition asking twitter to prioritize the creation of a secure authentication system. (please spread this if you believe in it)

Use tweet.io with care tweet.io is a very powerful function and you should consider carefully how your drop(s) are set up and how you would like them to interact with your twitter feed before subscribing your twitter account. Specifically of concern, if your drop is set so that non-admins can 'add' to your drop then people you might prefer not be able to add to your twitter feed will be able to put content onto your account. We recommend that you set the drop so that others can [view only] for most normal uses of the function and make sure that there is [no user password] (the password you set on the homepage, as opposed to the ‘administration’ password. That way, you and your trusted friends can add to the drop (and thereby the feed) but your followers or others who find your account can't. There are other ways to create similar effects (password protecting your drop, making sure your twitter feed is private, etc....) - all we ask is that you think before you leap and make sure you are comfortable with the concept that whomever can add to your drop can add to your twitter feed.

To recount, we normally recommend you set your drop to be [view only] and [no user password]

More advanced:This is a very flexible feature. You can subscribe an infinite number of twitter feeds to any given 'drop' and as many drops as you want to any given feed...We have some really interesting ideas on how users will deploy this function beyond the obvious "to add media items to my personal twitter feed" - if you are doing something cool with the function let us know via twitter... we are always fascinated and it would be great if you would write a 'hack' for us...
